Tournament of Minds is an exciting and engaging competition which allows students to combine higher order thinking with a creative performance component. Tournament of Minds is for students with a passion for learning and problem solving to demonstrate their skills and talents in an exciting, vibrant and public way. It involves teams from both primary and secondary years.
Students are required to solve demanding, open ended challenges from one of the following disciplines:
- Applied Technology
- Language Literature
- Maths/ Engineering
- Social Sciences
St John’s College has a proud tradition of involvement in T.O.M, and positions in a team are prized (in the past we have had many more students wishing to participate than there are positions available).
The College runs a workshop selection session where students are invited to showcase their ability. From this, students are then nominated for teams in the discipline of their choice.
T.O.M consists of three linked stages; Regionals, State and National Finals.
Tournament's aim is to enhance the potential of our youth by developing diverse skills, enterprise, time management, and the discipline to work collaboratively within a challenging and competitive environment.
